Does NOT have dual Gigabit NIC's

About Me Value Oriented
Comments about Pentium 4 2.8GHz 1GB No HDD DVD 1U Server w/Video & Dual GbLAN - No Operating System:
I needed a low cost, rack mount solution for a pfSense firewall application. An additional requirement for the application was dual gigabit network interfaces. This machine was advertised as having that, but after receiving the item I quickly discovered that it has just one gigabit interface. The second interface is 10/100. Disappointed. On a minor note, the machine is not quiet by any means. Note that most of the fan noise comes from the two power supply fans rather than the five case fans. That limits your options as to what you can do to reduce the noise.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Older Server, But Nice Price
By Mr. Ladd
This is running Ubuntu Server so I can host my own business website and email server from home. It's also doing duty as a UPnP/DLNA media server running minidlna. It does what it's built to do very well - get info from the drive and out the Ethernet port ASAP. I'm sure it could be even faster if not limited by my network equipment. It's also nice that another SATA drive can be installed, as I only used an 80 Gig to start.Unfortunately, the CPU wasn't properly seated on arrival and it wouldn't even POST. After cleaning an overkill of heat transfer compound off the package, it was re-installed and boot/os install from DVD went without a hitch. It's noisy, but hey - it's a server. It's supposed to be in a closet with A/C anyway.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
