Comments about Tripp Lite SMART1500 1500VA/980W 120V 6-Outlet Tower Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) System:
I used this ups to filter and as a backup power for my extreme home network, a home built router(e3400, 2 GB, 250GB HD, Gigabyte Mb, 3 Intel nics, Untangle 9.0.1 and a HP Procurve 1700-24. The first thing that began to bother me was the fan, and that was after about a year and a half. A quick tap of the unit on its side would quiet the fan. The software was a bit confusing but once I figured it out, I was able to figure out my power usage, the voltage variations, a weekly self test, there are a myriad of options available. Now for the good news, one day there was a lightning strike close, I mean really close. THIS unit took the full brunt of the strike and sacrificed itself. NONE of my connected equipment was damaged. To this unit I say Rip and thank you

Refurb, lasted 4 years.
from Nashville, TN
I bought the Smart1500 refurbed (possibly from here), and it worked great until I let it sit for a long time (over a year). It wouldn't power back up. For what I paid, it was worth 4 years of service, but that's more a personal opinion thing.

Doubtful at first,,glad I got it.
from San Diego, Ca
Only had it up and running for a few days but I feel a lot better about protecting my system. It ran the self test with ease so hoping all is fine. With no instruction it's confusing at first but worth the time. Easy download for software.
