Comments about Dell PowerEdge 2950 Dual Xeon Quad-Core E5430 2.66GHz 16GB 4x1TB DVD 2U Server w/Video & Dual GbLAN - No OS:
We purchased this to run as an internal CentOS WHM/cPanel dedicated server. 4 of the 6 drive bays had (1) TB drives in them. I removed them and installed (6) 2TB drives. The installed RAID controller let me setup an 8TB Raid 6 array! :) The 16GB Ram & Dual Xeon procs make CentOS, WHM & ownCloud scream! We're getting unbelieveable data transfer rates of 150-200mbs on the Raid 6 Array. It's now one of the fastest servers in our data room. And for fault tolerance, this box has two power supplies so if 1 fails the other will continue for uninterrupted performance. The 6 internal high-powered fans are kinda loud, so if you buy this make sure you have a server room, cabinet, or basement to run it in.Going to order 2 more of these next week!
