Comments about RIM BlackBerry PlayBook Dual-Core 1GHz 1GB 16GB 7'' Capacitive Touchscreen Tablet BlackBerry OS w/Dual Cams & HDMI:
My wife and I shopped a long time for a tablet before we decided that the Blackberry Playbook just could not be beat. I've heard from other comments elsewhere that "there are no apps for it". I would have to ask those folks- Have you ever even held a Playbook in your hand, much less gone to the AppCenter? There are thousands of High Quality applications. Not the Millions of so-so apps you need to wade through elsewhere. I have found everything I need and want for my daily use and most are free. I've purchased ($3.00 or less) a couple of games just for fun. I even transfer files from my PC (Ubuntu) to my Playbook using Dukto over my wireless network. I watch movies, check email, surf the internet, play Youtube videos, upload pictures to Picassa and Facebook right from my Playbook. The Picture quality and HD video taking is top notch. I would have to say this to anyone considering a tablet purchase. Try it for yourself. It is a remarkable, fast and easy to use tablet with all the custom setup you could desire. RIM is a very forward thinking company- and as this tablet proves--- YOU DO HAVE A CHOICE!It's not for everyone, only those who can accept that they do not have to be like everyone else to have what they want and need. And NO- I do not work for RIM, nor do I work as a salesman- I'm a retired Network Engineer with 12 years of College behind me.

What the others are missing

I find the playbook incredibly useful for email, facebook and web surfing. The flash player and office apps make this a no brainer for business. A nice feature is the app that combines all email and social networking accounts, enabling simple access. A blinking red led in front or a "glow" corner on the open screen indicate new email or status updates. I can tether easily to my cellphone if away from wi-fi, and send docs to my printer via bluetooth or network wi-fi. The games run great, (there are several preinstalled) and more from the app store. Recommended is purchasing the optional rapid charger stand, which charges in less than half the time, and provides a convenient place to park the unit. Processor speed is fast, no freeze up or lags, even with several apps running simultaneously. The display is excellent, on par or better than the retina, and the DUAL speakers provide the best audio for streaming, chat or gaming I have heard yet. The current pricing is unbelievable at about a third of original retail. Impressive is the overall size, weight and shape of the METAL case, not flimsy plastic here, and a nice soft non-slip back is grippy too. Finally, the cameras (f+B) are sharp, I have taken great pictures and videos during the day and indoors, in low light, not so great. Kobo is the native ereader, and I have found it works well, I never thought I would use it much, but I now do. A tablet purchase is very personal, and there are many considerations. Overall the playbook is a sleeper, with solid atributes at a nice price, business quality and serious functionality. If millions of apps are what you need, look elswhere, but there are workarounds, with more apps to come, and now google appstore compatibility.
