Comments about Dell Latitude E6400 Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz 2GB 160GB CDRW/DVD 14.1'' Laptop Windows Vista Business w/6-Cell Battery & BT:
This is the 2nd unit I've received from Dell (reconditioned) and both units have given me a "battery status: not normal" warning on startup and after hours of charging. While I bought the unit in October, 2012, Dell thinks I bought the unit in December 2009 and the "direct warranty" has been difficult to obtain. Supposedly, this reconditioned laptop has a year warranty, but we'll see how that works out. Every feature I have ever wanted on a laptop is on this unit. In particular, the Firewire port is valuable to me, since I use my laptop for remote audio recording. Pro Tools v10 likes this laptop a lot on WinXP. I am waiting to see how the battery problem works out before I upgrade to Win7 or Win8. My past experience with Latitude compters has been exceptional. If this unit lives up to past experience, it will be a terrific unit.

I supported about 30 of this model

We are just about finished replacing these with new where I work. Our users are hard on laptops, the beat the you know what out of these models. All of them are still running, I have not had to make one support call or return on this model.I will reuse what we can only retire those that have major cosmetic damage.Win 7 runs fine of these with 2GB of ram if you shut off all the aero stuff or adjust for best performance.
