Comments about Acasis USB Dual External Drive Enclosure w/USB Hub - Supports 5.25'' Slim SATA Optical Drive & 2.5'' SATA HDD up to 640GB:
Bought this initially to use old HDD and DVD RW from scrapped laptop. Functions perfectly as a DVD/ CD burner. As an external HDD it is great too! Light, and easily portable! The external power is great too as it won't draw power from the USB port. The one fault is the HDD bay should have had a caddy> It just feel like it's floating, which is the case, and may come loose.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

HD ok, but no CD ROM
I got this to use as a desktop CD Rom mainly. My CPU sits out of the way, and it isn't easy to get to the CD ROM. I was hoping to install a CDRW into it, but I think there is something faulty with the Power to the CD. doesn't work... just clicks and keeps doing the USB installed, uninstalled routine over and over and over. needs a revamp on the power issue.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I use this little gadget on ALL my usb enabled stuff including the BluRay player, Android tablet and just about anything apple. I have the sata/ide version rather than the sata only so any old laptop CDROM/DVD+RW works in it. I am using it primarily to store my movies on right now with a 750gig laptop sata drive. The case seems a little cheap and light, but trust me it's anything but cheap.
