Power supply won't last long

Comments about IDE/SATA to USB 2.0 Cable Adapter w/One Touch Backup - Turn Your 2.5'', 3.5'' or 5.25'' IDE or SATA Drive Into A USB Drive!:
This worked perfectly for most of my hard drives. After having it a few months though, the power supply is making a lot of beeps and squeals. It's not going to last much longer.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Exactly what I needed

About Me Casual User
My 7-yr old desktop died on me and I needed access to the files on my hard drive. It was easy to hookup the adapter to my SATA hard drive and I copied all the files I wanted to put onto my new laptop. I didn't need the CD provided because Windows 8 had all the drivers I needed already installed. Also, my new laptop does not have a CD/DVD drive. However, I was also able to connect either one of my CD/DVD drives that I had previously installed on my old desktop onto my new laptop using the adapter as well. Both of those drives are IDE connections. This was an extremely valuable low-cost investment for me. I highly recommend this adapter.

Worked as stated
from Phoenix Az
I used it for a dead HP pavilion and the only problem I had was an adapter on the on the hard drive that was a quarter inch thick, apeared to be part of the drive, and covered the correct plug. once removed, within ten miniutes I was retrieving my data. This was a SATA drive and windows 8 had no problem reading it.
